A complete toothed chain is formed by the interconnection and meshing of multiple links; therefore, during use it is possible for one or more of these links to become damaged. In order to allow the remaining intact links of the chain to continue functioning, it is necessary to replace the damaged parts. Don’t underestimate this simple chain replacement task; it involves strict procedures for replacement, and safety precautions must also be observed during the process. Steps for replacing a sprocket chain: When it is necessary to replace a section of the chain, make marks on the sprocket plates → Move the sprocket plates with marks toward the reducer side, and use a trigger or wrench to remove those sprocket plates. If the chain to be replaced is more than 1 meter long, remove the sprocket plates one by one so that the chain reaches the middle part of the conveyor belt, after which the excess sprocket plates can be removed → Loosen the tensioning devices of the sprocket plates at both ends → Use a hand winch to pull the ends of the chain inward until they are loose → Remove the chain that needs to be replaced. Precautions: When replacing a toothed chain, the power supply must be cut off, a work warning sign must be placed, and someone must stay on site to monitor the situation ; Wear protective gloves ; When installing or removing toothed chain links, it is strictly prohibited to put hands under the chain to avoid hand compression accidents. Although there are established procedures for replacing toothed chains, once the operation becomes familiar, there are no major issues.
