During our production and operation, we have come to fully understand that the proper use and maintenance of screw conveyors are extremely important. The screw conveyors produced by our company are used for transporting cartons, and they are typically operated in outdoor environments. Under such working conditions, the proper use and maintenance of screw conveyors are very important. So, how should screw conveyors be used and maintained properly? I. Inspection of the screw conveyor before startup: 1. Check for any remaining material and debris in the conveyor’s trough; these must be removed immediately. 2. Ensure that the inlet and outlet of the screw conveyor are unobstructed; if there is any blockage, it must be cleared thoroughly. 3. The tightness of the drive chain of the screw conveyor, as well as the gear mesh clearance, must be adjusted properly; if they are not properly set, they should be adjusted accordingly. 4. Check whether there are any loose bolts in the casing connection bolts and foundation bolts of the screw conveyor; make sure to tighten any bolts that are not secure. II. The screw conveyor must be started only when there is no material or debris present. 1. After starting the motor, observe the current level; if it is normal, feeding can be initiated to the screw conveyor. 2. To prevent metal debris from entering the tube of the screw conveyor, a screen should be installed at its feed inlet. Before starting the machine, be sure to close the cover of the screw conveyor’s housing; it must not be removed while the machine is in operation, in order to ensure personal safety and prevent dust from spreading. 3. When feeding, the feeding speed should be increased gradually until the rated conveying capacity is reached. The feeding must be uniform, and a certain level of filling should be maintained; intermittent feeding should be avoided as much as possible, as this can easily lead to blockages in the conveyed material and overload of the driving mechanism, thereby reducing the service life of the screw conveyor. 4. Feeding should be stopped before the screw conveyor is shut down; it can only be stopped after all the material inside the casing has been discharged. The materials fed in must not contain large, hard pieces, to prevent the screw from getting stuck and causing damage to the screw conveyor. 5. The connections between various parts of the screw conveyor should not allow dust or air to leak through; they must remain airtight. 6. The various components of the screw conveyor should be regularly lubricated. Maintain normal lubrication. Regular inspections and maintenance can extend the service life of screw conveyors!
