With the continuous economic development of society, the container logistics industry has seen rapid growth. The demand for loading, unloading, and transferring containers used for storing goods is increasing steadily. Mechanization has replaced labor-intensive manual tasks, and container cranes, as the key equipment used for handling goods, are in growing demand; as a result, older types of cranes are also being replaced. Container gantry cranes can be used in various indoor and outdoor environments; they are typically available in either rail-mounted or tire-mounted versions. Many intelligent devices are also being incorporated into container gantry cranes, which makes operation simpler and improves work efficiency. Container gantry cranes equipped with intelligent devices have many advantages; they are equipped with a variety of sensors and switches that enable more precise control over the crane’s movement and the positioning of loads, and programming can be used to achieve automatic handling and transportation of containers. A real-time monitoring system composed of sensors, switches, and controllers is capable of automatically issuing alerts and resolving issues when danger approaches, rather than relying solely on the subjective judgment of the crane operator. The circuits controlled by digital intelligent control systems are simpler, consume less power, and do not produce sparks. Their lifespan is several times that of traditional crane control systems. Moreover, such systems can monitor and record the real-time operating conditions of the crane, issue fault alerts and maintenance reminders, and take over control of the crane from the operator when necessary, thereby enhancing the overall reliability of the crane. When does a container gantry crane need maintenance? 1. It depends on the frequency of use; if it is used frequently, such as in large steel mills, then major repairs may be necessary once a year. 2. Depending on the usage pattern and the length of time it has been in use, items that have been used for less than 1 year are easy to repair and do not require major repairs; those that have been used for more than 3 years need major repairs, and the parts that need to be replaced are also different. 3. The gantry crane is also related to its service class; compared to A3, the A5 model has variations in terms of performance and working range, and its maintenance time is likely to be longer. 4. It also depends on the regular maintenance; if proper management and upkeep are carried out, it is easy to extend its lifespan.
