The world’s largest diameter forging and rolling equipment complex, invested in and built by Elet Energy Equipment Co., Ltd., has been put into operation. These \"national treasures\" that represent China’s capabilities in high-end equipment manufacturing will completely reverse the situation in which critical large-scale forgings used in fields such as nuclear power, wind energy, and deep-sea engineering have long relied on imports, thereby providing a solid foundation for ensuring the autonomy, security, and controllability of major strategic projects. As a major project in Shandong Province for 2025, this project has a total investment of 1.1 billion yuan. It incorporates a number of top-tier equipment from around the world in the field of forging: the world’s largest free forging machine with a capacity of 22,000 tons, as well as the world’s largest ring rolling mill with a diameter of 22 meters. At the production site, the reporter witnessed the immense industrial power: a free forging machine nearly 8 stories tall was slowly brought online, capable of precisely forging giant steel billets weighing 180 tons into shape in a single operation. The \"steel foundation\" forged through these experiences will in the future serve as components for wind turbine rotors, nuclear power pressure vessel heads, and key elements of deep-sea platforms, acting as a solid backbone for China’s high-end equipment to reach the global market. Zheng Dongdong, general manager of the Core Components Division for Extra-Large Equipment at Elet, said that once the project is fully operational, it will be able to produce 60,000 tons of extra-large forgings per year, generating additional sales revenue of around 1.5 billion yuan. This will significantly enhance China’s influence in the global high-end forging market.
