According to the \"Industry and Information Technology Brief\", on the morning of January 13, Li Lecheng, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, presided over the 18th symposium for manufacturing enterprises. The meeting focused on ensuring a good start for the industrial economy during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, and heard presentations as well as suggestions from enterprises in key industries. At the meeting, leaders of 12 enterprises from key industries such as steel, non-ferrous metals, new materials, automobiles, machinery, shipbuilding, light industry, pharmaceuticals, and electronics, along with officials from the China Machinery Industry Federation and the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, delivered speeches in which they shared information on their enterprises’ production and operation activities as well as the development trends in their respective sectors. They also offered suggestions on aspects such as stabilizing economic operations, tapping into market potential, advancing technological innovation, improving the development environment, and providing greater support to enterprises. The relevant departments and agencies responded on the spot to the issues, requests, suggestions, and opinions. The meeting noted that China’s industry is currently at a crucial stage of transitioning from being large in scale to being strong, and overcoming various challenges. Under the influence of changing external conditions and an increase in internal risks and challenges, there is greater pressure to ensure the stable operation of the industrial economy. At the same time, it should be noted that China’s industrial economy has a solid foundation and strong resilience. It boasts advantages such as an ultra-large market, a complete industrial system, and abundant human resources. The underlying conditions and fundamental trends conducive to long-term growth remain unchanged. We must maintain firm confidence, confront challenges head-on, and effectively align our thoughts and actions with ***’s scientific assessment of the situation. We should focus firmly on the primary task of promoting high-quality development and the key task of advancing new-type industrialization, further strengthen our sense of responsibility and mission, and drive substantial improvements in the quality as well as reasonable growth in the volume of the industrial economy, so as to play a role as a \"ballast stone\" in stabilizing the overall macroeconomy. The meeting emphasized that 2026 is the starting year of the 15th Five-Year Plan, and there is a great responsibility and a noble mission to stabilize industrial economic growth. It is necessary to view and understand the current situation facing the industrial economy in a scientific manner, make every effort to maintain its steady and positive development trend, thoroughly implement a new set of action plans aimed at boosting growth in ten key industries, leverage the driving role of these key industries and regions, strive for excellence and success through quality, enhance the supply capacity of high-quality industrial products, stimulate and boost new consumer demand, make effective use of policies related to key projects and new technologies, focus on stabilizing effective investment in manufacturing, and invigorate private investment. The meeting emphasized that entrepreneurs should focus on their core businesses and accelerate high-quality development. By focusing on the \"two overarching situations\" and keeping the \"major interests of the nation\" in mind, we accelerate our own development while driving the industry to improve quality and efficiency, thereby gaining a competitive edge in domestic and international markets through high-quality products and services. Focus on innovation to enhance core competitiveness. Great efforts should be made to enhance basic research and the ability for original innovation, by delving deep into fundamental principles and core technologies in order to solidify the foundations of innovation. Strengthen self-discipline to create a healthy ecosystem. Actively participate in the formulation of industry rules and the development of self-regulation mechanisms, consciously resist \"involution,\" promote win-win outcomes, safeguard the environment for industry development, and make greater contributions to accelerating new-type industrialization and building a strong manufacturing nation.
