When a belt conveyor is in operation, we must follow proper procedures to ensure the safety of both people and the conveyor itself. Below are some safety guidelines for using belt conveyors: 1. Before starting the belt conveyor, check the tension of the conveyor belt; the buckles should be securely fastened. All transmission components such as gears, chain links, and bearings should be inspected to ensure they are in good condition. The idlers and protective devices should also be checked to confirm they are in place, and the electrical protection system should be properly connected to ground. The width of the drum should match that of the conveyor belt. II. When starting a belt conveyor, no materials should be placed on it initially; it should operate empty. Only after the conveyor is functioning properly should materials be loaded onto it. Be especially careful not to start the production line before loading the materials. III. Before starting a mobile belt conveyor, it is necessary to check whether the wheels are tightened symmetrically; if not, they should be tightened ； Fixed belt conveyors should be installed on a stable foundation. When multiple machines operate in parallel, there should be a passage of at least 1 meter between each machine. Check for any obstacles around the belt conveyor that could interfere with operations. IV. When using belt conveyors to transport large pieces of material, protective devices should be installed on both sides of the conveyor line, such as loading plates or fences. V. Be sure to adjust the discharge height of the belt conveyor with the machine stopped. After adjusting the height, be sure to insert the safety pin and tighten the connection nut. VI. When feeding material onto the belt conveyor, it is necessary to aim at the center of the conveyor belt and adjust its height to avoid causing severe impact on the conveyor belt and idlers during the material placement process. The material should be added evenly. VII. In case of an emergency, such as a power outage, the power supply should be cut off immediately and the goods on the belt conveyor removed. Once electricity is restored and the fault has been identified, the power supply can be reconnected to resume operation. VIII. When the belt conveyor is in operation, it is strictly prohibited for anyone to cross over it or pass under it. When the conveyor belt malfunctions and slips, the power supply should be cut off, and it is prohibited to pull it by hand. Maintenance and cleaning are prohibited during operation. 9. When it is necessary to stop the operation of the belt conveyor, feeding materials should be halted first; the conveyor can only be stopped after all the materials on it have been removed. If several belt conveyors are operating in series and need to be shut down, they should be stopped in sequence starting from the discharge side. X. During the operation of the belt conveyor, it is necessary to constantly monitor its performance. If the belt is found to be misaligned or loose, the machine should be stopped for maintenance. 11. After the operation of the belt conveyor is completed, the power supply should first be turned off and the switch box controlling the power supply locked. Then, the materials on the belt conveyor should be removed, and finally, a cover should be used to protect the motor.
