Compressors can be classified into different categories in various ways. Does anyone have a comprehensive classification of compressor types along with the corresponding maintenance procedures? Let’s share it
I only know about air compressors, so I can briefly explain their classification. Based on principle and structure, air compressors can be divided into three to four categories: 1. Screw compressors, which can be further classified as oil-cooled screw compressors/air-cooled screw compressors, or single-screw/composite-screw compressors. 2. Piston compressors, also known as reciprocating compressors; these can be further divided into single-stage/multi-stage reciprocating compressors. 3. Turbine compressors, which are used in applications requiring high flow rates and high pressures; they are typically found in large industrial facilities and are not as widely used as the previous two types. 4. Rotating vane compressors. Their principle is similar to that of the slurry pump used in the chemical industry in China, but due to special designs abroad, they are capable of producing more efficient compressed air. Their main advantage lies in low-pressure applications; however, their cost and price are higher than those of screw compressors, although they offer higher efficiency
