Friends, I have a question and would like to ask for your help. Valve for water injection pipelines, with a valve body made of martensitic stainless steel and a valve core made of duplex steel. The chloride concentration in the water is 150,000 ppm, the hydrogen sulfide concentration is 30 mg/l, the pH value is 5.6, and the water temperature is around 60 degrees. Can martensitic stainless steel valves be used? I’m checking NACE MR0175; its requirements for stainless steel specify a limit regarding the hydrogen sulfide partial pressure. How can one calculate the hydrogen sulfide partial pressure in water? I would appreciate any guidance from everyone out there. Thank you.
It depends; is this the wastewater treatment system for coal chemical industry? I don’t understand; I’m here to learn*. We use austenite; we’ve never used anything as advanced as martensite
