The reduction gearbox vibrated heavily, so the four shafts were removed. Each helical gear was made of smooth stainless steel on one side and dark brown on the other. The dark brown part seems to be poorly meshed. When the gears mesh, do they only engage one surface? Why are the good gears this color? They weren’t like this a month ago.
Is the copper sleeve of the shaft worn and the gap too large, resulting in large vibration and incomplete gear meshing?
Normal color, the oil is quite dirty, it will return to its original color after just wiping it.
The other surface is not the meshing surface, the gear rotates in one direction, and the color is normal.

Make the vibration value meet the requirements through maintenance. Because there is a gap on the gear meshing surface during vibration, the metal wears out a lot. The fallen metal powder oxidizes into iron oxide, contaminating the lubricating oil and making it darker. Judging from the picture, the color of the gear surface seems to be contaminated by lubricating oil. Let's test it.
What you said makes sense. The inside of the gearbox is all this color. Can it be washed away with water? After that, prepare to check the wear of the gear and whether the shaft is dented.

This situation usually occurs because the oil contains water or the acid value exceeds the standard, causing the gearing surface to be smooth, and the non-gearing surface to corrode and adhere to iron oxide, showing a rust color.
There are pits in a few places on the top of the tooth, which may be caused by collision and may cause iron oxide to contaminate the gear surface. Now the bearings are all ready to be replaced, but the maintenance worker has complained that it is difficult to remove them. I plan to use gas welding to remove the bearing. I wonder if there is a better way.
