The phenomenon of various-sized, randomly distributed small circular pits remaining on the paint film after it has dried. Cavitation (also known as \"pits\" or \"oil pockets\") in paint application occurs because, during the leveling process of the paint, differences in surface tension prevent certain areas from being evenly wetted by the substrate or coating, resulting in circular or irregular recessed defects. To address shrinkage cavities, targeted measures must be taken based on the stage at which they occur (wet film or dry film) and their underlying causes; the core principle is to focus on prevention with repair as a secondary approach.
