I saw the workers applying lime water around the welds – what is the purpose of that? The base material is stainless steel
It is mainly used to prevent splashing, as a large amount of spatter is generated during stainless steel welding, and this spatter sticks to the stainless steel and is difficult to remove.
Do you do it the same way? I’ve been in the technical field for over a decade and only noticed this now; I’m going to learn about it.*
Looking at the image, it seems to be for cleaning the back side, to prevent splashing.
Check the specifications; however, your lime water needs to be mixed thoroughly to reach a paste-like consistency in order to be effective.
I’m not in production, so I didn’t notice this; I’m still learning
This weld doesn’t seem to have been welded very well
The scrapped lime is still in lump form!
