Corrosion conditions of low-pressure wet gas holders ① Spiral guide rails: Wet gas holders are mainly composed of components such as water tanks, intermediate sections, and domes; the volume of the gas holder changes as these intermediate sections and domes move up and down freely. ② The medium is highly corrosive, and the intermediate section and bell cover are frequently submerged and raised above the water surface, exacerbating the corrosion of the equipment. The main forms of corrosion include: damage to the surface of the paint film, wet hydrogen sulfide stress corrosion cracking, corrosion of the metal beneath the paint film, corrosion caused by acidic water, and microbial corrosion in water tanks. ③ The corrosion in the gaseous phase space at the upper part of the gas holder is mild, while severe corrosion occurs in the lower part of the gas holder as well as in the middle sections and dome on the outside of the gas holder near the water seal line (represented by wet hydrogen sulfide corrosion, as well as microbial corrosion inside and on the bottom plate of the gas holder’s water tank). Wet-type gas cabinets suffer more severe corrosion than dry-type gas cabinets
The main components of a low-pressure wet gas holder include the water tank, the middle section, and the dome, which are susceptible to corrosion by the medium, especially due to the frequent contact with water surface in the middle section and the dome. Corrosion forms include paint film surface damage, wet hydrogen sulfide stress corrosion cracking, metal corrosion, acidic water corrosion, and microbial corrosion. The corrosion in the upper part inside the gas holder is relatively mild, while it is more severe in the lower part and near the external water seal line. The corrosion in wet-type gas holders is more serious than that in dry-type gas holders. .
