A gasoline tank with a capacity of 10,000 cubic meters at a refinery, of the external floating roof type. These two photos were taken in 2013, after 18 years of use, and the condition of the coating is good. There are no obvious damages on the surface, the coating is intact, and it is still in use. Some spots on the anti-corrosion layer are caused by welding work on the outer wall. Its service life far exceeds the relevant requirements (CNPC requires more than 6 years). The construction materials are: an epoxy zinc-rich primer as the base coat, and an epoxy glass flake antistatic coating as the top coat. The painting was applied 5 times: 2 coats of primer and 3 coats of topcoat. The coating thickness is greater than 280 micrometers. The metal surface treatment is at Sa2.5 grade. Why do anti-corrosion coatings last for such a long time? This is what it means to carry out full-process management of a construction project. Good control is needed over material procurement, plan formulation, and the selection of construction contractors. Quality inspections of engineering projects are carried out at every stage; inspections during the construction process and upon completion are conducted in accordance with the established rules.
