Chinese Chemical Society establishes committee on surface physical chemistry On May 10, the founding meeting of the Committee on Surface Physical Chemistry of the Chinese Chemical Society was held in Chengdu, Sichuan. More than 40 representatives from research institutions and universities attended the meeting. 　　Through secret ballot voting, Professor Wu Kai from Peking University was elected as the first chairman. Researcher Du Shixuan from the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Li Jianfeng from Xiamen University, Professor Wang Bing from the University of Science and Technology of China, Researcher Wang Dong from the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Professor Wang Yongfeng from Peking University were elected as vice chairmen. A total of 60 members were selected to form the first committee. The committee appointed Professor Wang Yongfeng from Peking University and Associate Researcher Zhang Yajie from Peking University as secretaries-general. 　　At the meeting, Professor Wu Kai, the first director, delivered a speech and introduced the committee’s next work plan. Subsequently, the attending committee members had a lively discussion on the organizational structure of the special committee, its future development, and academic activities, and put forward various suggestions.
