It was learned on November 13 that the first phase of Yantai Wanshun New Materials Co., Ltd.’s project to produce 170,000 tons of green high-performance resins per year has been completed and put into operation recently. The total investment for the first phase of this project is 680 million yuan, with a land area of 62,005.9 square meters. The production capacity upon completion will be 170,000 tons per year (20,000 tons per year of polyaspartate polyurea coatings, 5,000 tons per year of conventional polyurea coatings, 18,000 tons per year of epoxy coatings, 12,000 tons per year of polyurethane coatings, 10,000 tons per year of acrylic coatings, and 10,000 tons per year of UV-curable coatings). Once the entire first-phase project is completed and operational, it is expected to generate annual sales revenue of 3.78 billion yuan. Yantai Wanshun states that the company has made the development of high-end chemical new materials a key focus for its industrial growth. By leveraging its keen insight into the market, it has proactively assembled a team of skilled professionals and acquired the necessary technologies, thereby establishing a solid foundation in terms of human resources, financial resources, and infrastructure for the construction and proper operation of these projects. Driven by research and development as well as market demands, efforts are being made to produce high-performance resin products such as polyaspartic polyurea polyurethanes, conventional polyurethanes, floor coatings, hybrid polyethers, and polyester polyols. By leveraging Shunda Polyurethane’s related industrial chain, the strengths of both parties can be combined to foster the company’s growth and meet societal needs. Following in-depth market research and a comparison of the investment environments, as well as economic and policy conditions, in various regions, it was decided to establish a project in the Yantai Chemical Industry Park to produce 180,000 tons per year of green high-performance resins. By carrying out this project, it will be possible to achieve coordinated development of the company’s economic and technical resources as well as its production capabilities, to realize the company’s development strategy, to improve economic efficiency, and to contribute to expanding the overall volume and level of local economic development; therefore, the construction of this project is highly necessary. According to the environmental impact assessment documents, the project will be constructed in two phases. The total investment for the first phase is planned to be 680 million yuan, with a land area of 62,005.9 square meters. The planned production capacity for this phase is 170,000 tons per year: 20,000 tons per year of polyaspartate polyurea coatings, 5,000 tons per year of ordinary polyurea coatings, 18,000 tons per year of epoxy coatings, 12,000 tons per year of polyurethane coatings, 10,000 tons per year of acrylic coatings, 10,000 tons per year of UV-curable coatings, 10,000 tons per year of modified isocyanates, 60,000 tons per year of rigid polyurethane polyether, and 25,000 tons per year of polyester polyols. Upon the full completion and operation of Phase 1, it is expected to generate annual sales revenue of 3.78 billion yuan, a total profit of 197.144 million yuan, and a net profit of 147.858 million yuan. The construction scope of this project includes production workshops and process equipment for polyaspartate polyurea, conventional polyurea, epoxy coatings, polyurethane coatings, acrylic coatings, UV-curable coatings, rigid polyurethane polyether, polyester polyols, fragrance esters, and modified isocyanates, as well as supporting utility systems and production auxiliary facilities. Among them, the construction of fragrance esters for Phase 1 is temporarily suspended and is not included in the scope of this environmental impact assessment. Polyaspartate polyurea, Jintong polyurea, epoxy coatings, polyurethane coatings, acrylic coatings, UV-curable coatings, rigid polyurethane composite ether coatings, and modified isocyanates all fall under the coating manufacturing industry, while polyester polyols belong to the manufacturing of other synthetic materials. It is reported that this high-performance industrial coating is based on advanced epoxy technology, providing excellent long-term protection for steel even in the most demanding environments. They are ideal coatings for steel structures such as bridges, offshore facilities, and power generation equipment, enabling extended maintenance intervals. Polyester polyols are widely used in industries such as foam materials, synthetic leather, coatings, and adhesives. By adding a certain proportion of polyester polyols to polyurethane rigid foam plastics, the strength of these materials can be significantly increased, while reducing the production costs of polyurethane rigid foam materials. Due to their low thermal conductivity and excellent heat-insulating properties, polyester-based foam materials are widely used in pipeline insulation and building insulation applications.
