When using ASPEN to perform rigorous RADFRAC calculations for the distillation of propylene and water under atmospheric pressure, how should the pressure drop be set? What is the standard approach for handling this?
The typical pressure drop across a single plate is set between 0.5 and 1.0 kPa, with 0.7 kPa being the common value. After the tray size is determined, the pressure distribution can be calculated during tray verification.
The total pressure drop across the tower is determined based on the actual number of plates, the voltage drop per plate, or the packing height; it ranges from approximately 50 KPa to 30 KPa
