In PDMS and E3D, there is currently no effective way to create spiral staircases, especially those with platforms in the middle. Just to add, it works. Once created, it has a green appearance, cannot be moved, and cannot be deleted. I’m not sure if there’s something wrong with the way I’m operating it.
After some experimentation, it was indeed possible to create a spiral staircase, and the resulting design looked good. But there is a question: in this context, DISTAN refers to the platform elevation, PWIDTH is the platform width – so what is the dimension for the platform length, PLENG? Outer ring arc length? Or the arc length of the platform center? I would appreciate some guidance from an expert. Thank you.
Also, if possible, could the length of the platform be set in terms of an initial angle, which would be more convenient?
Here, PLENG is the arc length of the inner ring. After it is completed, it can be moved and modified, and its color will remain consistent with that of STRU. At present, the angle from the platform perspective is calculated using PLENG; although it can be changed to an initial angle, the effort required is significant, and I haven’t had the time to make the change recently.
Thank you for your feedback. In practical applications, circular platforms are more commonly represented by their starting angle and ending angle; at least in my own design work, using the arc length to determine the size of the platform always seems a bit awkward. It might also be due to my personal habits. Additionally, PDMS has advantages in pipeline modeling, where platforms and similar elements only need to be approximated; but it seems that if greater accuracy can be achieved, why not do so? Finally, thank you for developing it; the small plugin is quite useful. If you have the time, please also provide a slightly more detailed guide on how to use it; it would likely be of greater help to everyone.
Well, that makes sense. I’ll add some usage instructions when I have time; the issue related to the platform’s perspective won’t be fixed for now. I’ve been a bit lazy lately, so I’ll think about it again if there’s a need in the future
