Fixed verdict: The share of new types of nitrogen fertilizers is set to rise to 25% during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. Author/Source: Sinochem New Network. Date: 2020-09-15. Clicks: 78. By the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the proportion of capacity dedicated to producing new types of nitrogen fertilizers in China will reach 25%. Value-added modification technologies will be used to improve the performance and functions of nitrogen fertilizer products, thereby promoting their sustainable and efficient use. This was the consensus reached on September 12th at the 7th Member Conference of the China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association, held in Beijing, by more than 300 participants including leaders from **relevant government departments and industry associations, experts and scholars from agricultural research institutions, as well as representatives from nitrogen fertilizer companies. The conference was hosted by the China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association. Supported by various organizations including Henan Xinlianxin Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd. In his speech, Vice Minister Wang Jiangping emphasized that China’s nitrogen fertilizer industry has made significant contributions to ensuring the country’s food security. As China’s food industry undergoes transformation and adjustment, the nitrogen fertilizer industry also needs to transform itself. In response, he put forward three suggestions: first, adhere to the new development concept ; Second, accelerate integration with next-generation information technologies to promote the intelligent, digital, and networked development of industries, improve operational efficiency, and enhance intrinsic safety ; Third, accelerate the transformation of production methods and the production landscape of enterprises, integrate fertilization with other processes, and become productive service-oriented enterprises. President Li Shousheng believes that the world economy will be characterized by uncertainty in the coming years. He hopes that the nitrogen fertilizer industry will take new steps forward by sticking to traditional fertilizers while also exploring alternatives to them, and that it will achieve new breakthroughs in terms of new types of fertilizers, their functions and performance, as well as product quality. In particular, the industry should boldly pursue a transformation toward the chemical industry. **Cai Ronghua, Deputy Director of the Industrial Development Department of the National Development and Reform Commission, and Chen Kaimin, Deputy Director of the Raw Materials Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, attended the meeting. “Carrying out product structure adjustments and actively promoting new types of nitrogen fertilizer products, including value-added urea, stable fertilizers, urea ** solutions, and nitro compound fertilizers, is an important way for China’s nitrogen fertilizer industry to overcome its difficulties. ” Gu Zongqin, president of the China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association, said that value-added fertilizers and stable fertilizers are globally recognized as important ways to improve the efficiency of nitrogen fertilizer use and enhance the added value of products. Therefore, during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, it is necessary to not only regulate the total amount of nitrogen fertilizers used but also optimize their product structure. By adding value to these products, efforts should be focused on the research, development, promotion, and application of green and efficient nitrogen fertilizers, so that such fertilizers account for 25% of the total, thereby meeting the diverse needs of agricultural production. Li Yanting, a researcher at the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Regional Planning, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, said that value-added fertilizers represent a key direction for the development of new types of fertilizers in China. At present, the annual production volume of new types of fertilizers in our country, such as value-added urea, value-added phosphate ammonium, and value-added compound fertilizers, reaches 10 million tons, of which the annual production of value-added urea is 3 million tons. Li Yanting emphasized that by the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan period, China will produce 20 million tons of value-added urea, 20 million tons of value-added compound fertilizers, and 10 million tons of value-added phosphate ammonium per year, thereby enabling more than 30% of conventional fertilizers to be modified to have added value. Every year, the area under cultivation with value-added fertilizers increases by 1 billion mu, resulting in an increase in grain production of 20 billion kilograms. This also helps to reduce the loss of chemical fertilizers, protects the environment, and promotes the green development of agriculture in our country. Liu Xingxu, chairman of Henan Xinlianxin Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd., who is a supporter of this conference, said that focusing on functional innovations in fertilizers, we have carried out systematic research on the application of humic acid as well as product development. Various new products such as loss-control fertilizers, energy-concentrating agents, and humic acid-based products have shown significant effects in terms of reducing fertilizer use, improving efficiency, and enhancing product quality. Their advantages, including saving time, labor, and money sowie offering a high return on investment, have been recognized by farmers. In terms of technical research and development for differentiated products, brand marketing, and market share, it leads the industry, with the Xinlianxin brand gaining increasing recognition. “The three high-efficiency fertilizer series of \"energy-concentrating network\", \"loss control\", and \"humic acid\" have become the mainstream products for reducing fertilizer use while improving efficiency. Wang Weimin, chairman of CNOOC Chemical Co., Ltd., also said that compared with conventional fertilizers, value-added fertilizers have a yield-increasing potential of 14%–17% for food crops, and a fertilizer-reduction potential of 10%–30%. Under the same application rate, value-added fertilizers increase yield by 6% to 30%; even when the application rate is reduced by 20%, they still boost yield by 4% to 16%. Therefore, vigorously developing new types of fertilizers such as value-added fertilizers is an important driving force for achieving the transition from reducing fertilizer use without reducing yields to reducing fertilizer use while increasing yields. Tian Yaoxiong, chairman of Qinhuangdao Wuxian Weiai Technology Development Co., Ltd., which focuses on the transformation and promotion of fertilizer enhancers, said that innovation in high-efficiency green fertilizer products can only lead to a significant increase in fertilizer utilization rates through systematic improvements in the nutrient-functioning capabilities of fertilizers, their ability to be absorbed by roots, and the functions of the soil environment ; Only by using fertilizer enhancement technologies to improve the performance and functions of major fertilizer products such as urea, ammonium phosphate, compound fertilizers, and water-soluble fertilizers can we truly drive technological upgrades in the fertilizer industry and help agriculture achieve sustainable growth. “Our group adheres to a fertilizer-based approach to optimize and upgrade its product structure. To date, we have developed well-developed industrial chains in the fields of coal chemicals, salt chemicals, fluorine chemicals, and new chemical materials, with the annual output value increasing from 4 billion yuan to 40 billion yuan. ”Zhang Jincheng, chairman of Luxi Group, introduced their efforts in \"adhering to chemical fertilizers while moving beyond them.\" The conference presented plaques to the enterprises that received an AAA credit rating in 2020, as well as to the senior vice-presidents and vice-presidents of the organization. The conference also voted to approve the amendments to the statutes, the adjustment of membership fees, and the change of name from China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association to China Nitrogen Fertilizer and Syngas Industry Association. During the conference, a seminar on the development of the nitrogen fertilizer and methanol industries during the 14th Five-Year Plan period was also held.
