Successful First Start-Up of the Ammonia Compressor Turbine in CNPC Tuke Methanol Project Author/Source: China Wuhuan Date: 2020-12-01 Clicks: 15 On November 29, with the successful first start-up of the ammonia compressor turbine in the methanol synthesis compression plant, the commissioning process for the six compressor units of CNPC Enechemical’s 1 million-ton methanol project began. At 5:00 that day, the steam inlet pipe of the turbine began to be warmed up. The startup team carried out each step as outlined in the commissioning procedure, stabilized the lubricating oil system, put the condensate system into operation, established the vacuum system, and started the fans in the air-cooling island ; The turbine was started at 9:58; a low-speed warm-up at 750 rpm was carried out to test the rapid shutdown function. The turbine quickly passed through the critical zone, and it was verified that all parameters remained stable and normal at the lowest continuous speed of 4840 rpm and the rated speed of 6915 rpm ; At 14:30, the operation team successfully completed the electronic and mechanical trip tests, and the unit operated stably until it was shut down at 16:30, thus completing the turbine startup process successfully with just one attempt. The temperature at the Tuq methanol project site today has dropped below zero, yet the cold winds there have not dampened the project team’s enthusiasm for work. To carry out all the winter testing tasks successfully, the project team is full of enthusiasm and is working diligently to achieve the project goals. The steam turbine of the ammonia compressor was successfully started up, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent testing of the compressor. It also provided experience for the testing of the remaining compressor units for nitrogen, refrigerant, carbon monoxide, syngas, and methane. Under the leadership of the company and the project team, the Tuoke project team is confident in achieving the set goals of \"fighting the pandemic while ensuring revenue growth and completing the dual-hundred targets,\" finishing the unit testing as soon as possible, and delivering the project on schedule.
