What is the difference between oxygenation in the compressor before and after entering the separator in the carbon dioxide stripping process?

Our plant has a bypass line that adds oxygen before it reaches the primary separator. Does anyone know what the purpose of this is?
Is it just to prevent corrosion upon entering the separator?
It will mix more thoroughly before reaching the separator, which may result in greater corrosivity for the separator
