On December 10, the differential pressure power generation project, jointly developed by the company, Sinopec Group, and Foshan Xuantong Technology Co., Ltd., officially commenced construction at the acetylene plant’s gas distribution station. This is an important technical improvement project for the company in terms of energy conservation and emission reduction; it represents a response to the challenges related to achieving carbon peak and carbon neutrality. Once this project is put into operation, the company will be able to generate nearly 5 million kWh of electricity through pressure difference each year, which is equivalent to a reduction of 5,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions. It will serve as a model for achieving the goals of carbon peak and carbon neutrality in the chemical industry. It is understood that the natural gas used by the company carries significant pressure energy during transmission, and a pressure regulator must be installed upon arrival at the company’s production area to reduce the pressure. In the past, due to immature technology, natural gas pressure could not be utilized effectively. To further advance the transition to zero-carbon processes, the company continues to monitor this technology and draws on the operational experience of similar systems both domestically and internationally. Once mature technologies are available, pressure differential generators are used to replace pressure relief valves, thereby generating electricity from the pressure energy of natural gas. It is reported that the company plans to install a differential pressure generator with a total power of 680 kilowatts at each of the acetylene distribution stations in the Fubang plant and at the large fertilizer plant. As of the time of writing, the differential pressure generator at the acetylene plant’s gas distribution station has been successfully installed, and the acetylene workshop has provided training for employees on how to operate the differential pressure generator. Pressure difference power generation technology is a technique that utilizes the energy from pressure differences generated in industrial processes, recovers it to convert it into mechanical energy, and uses this energy to drive generators to produce electricity. The power generation process does not consume natural gas, is pollution-free, meets zero-emission standards, and represents a green and clean new energy project.
