Date: 2022-11-18 Clicks: 31 At 15:00 on the afternoon of November 8th, a trial run of the automated packaging system in System B was carried out, marking the completion of the automation upgrade for the packaging of urea products at Dawa Ammonia Production Company. The testing method involves manually lifting bags to pour more than 4 tons of urea onto Belt 1, which then transports it to the silo via Belt 2 and a vibrating screen. At the test site for the high-rise stacker in the warehouse, technician Liu Chuang explained in detail the structure of this equipment. He focused on highlighting the important precautions regarding the use of the weight re-check scale as well as the methods for calibrating the weights. His colleagues listened attentively to his instructions, and he shared his knowledge about weight calibration without reservation. They carried out the calibration processes themselves; when problems arose and it was not possible to proceed, they would ask him for guidance on what to do next. In this way, they learned while carrying out the adjustments. After the previous device has finished its operation, when it comes to the photoelectric sensor, it is strictly prohibited to manually open the guard door during the palletizing process; upon detection at either of these points, the robot palletizer system will automatically stop. Before starting the high-level palletizer, Liu Chuang provided detailed instructions on how to use each button on the display screen and what their functions were; accompanied by the exciting sound of the machine, these sounds filled up the entire warehouse. The colleagues followed technician Liu Chuang’s lead and went to the site of the No. 2 and No. 1 fully automatic packaging machines on the second floor of the packaging area to conduct trial operations. He explained the components of the No. 2 automatic packaging machine: a fully automatic bag-feeding device, a weight-controlled packaging scale, and a sealing and conveying system. Precautions for starting the process, safe operation and usage of the scale along with related guidelines. He pressed a button on the control panel to start the process: automatic bag feeding, bag grasping, bag sealing, automatic folding of the edges, and sewing. After a series of crisp sounds from the sewing machine, a straight seam was formed on the packaging bag, resulting in a tightly sealed bag that appeared both safe and aesthetically pleasing, thus ensuring the quality of the product. While testing the Model 1# automatic packaging machine, a wire breakage fault occurred in the seaming machine as the packaging bags passed through it. He patiently guided us on how to remove the packaging bags, taught us how to wind the thread and adjust the stitching, as well as how to adjust the operation of the bag-feeding mechanism; he even showed us personally, step by step, how to disassemble and reassemble the seaming machine. With the full cooperation of everyone, the malfunction of the sewing and packing machine was resolved; thereafter, the packing machine was started according to the standard operating procedures. The materials in the storage bin were packaged by the automated packing machine and then transported seamlessly to the robotic arms for stacking, where the forklift operators placed the pallets in the warehouse for storage. New equipment, a new starting point – after 4 hours of testing and running-in, a malfunction occurred in the seaming machine during these tests. Under the supervision of the management and with the guidance of the technicians, my colleagues worked together to overcome all the difficulties. We gained a great deal from this trial run; we successfully completed the feeding trial phase and got the entire automatic packaging line for urea products up and running smoothly. Going forward, the ammonia processing center will ensure the long-term operation of the automatic packaging line, continue to provide training to improve employees’ operational skills, and establish an efficient operation management model for this line as soon as possible. It will turn the outcomes of such training into a driving force for work, striving to use more efficient technical skills to promote effective progress in operations!
