Guangdong Jifeng Energy plans to use power plant exhaust gases to produce urea via the Stamicarbon technology. Guangdong Jifeng Energy Co., Ltd. intends to utilize the exhaust gases from YueDian Bohuo Power Plant to recover carbon dioxide from them; some of this carbon dioxide, along with purchased liquid ammonia, will be used to produce urea and diesel engine exhaust cleaners, while the remaining carbon dioxide will be converted into food-grade carbon dioxide for sale. The main products of the project are 401,000 tons per year of granular urea, 100,000 tons per year of diesel engine exhaust cleaner (32.5% urine solution), 467,000 tons per year of large-granule urea, and 100,000 tons per year of food-grade CO2. Urea is produced using the Stamicarbon ultra-low energy consumption modified CO2 stripping process, with a capacity of 2,700 tons per day. The production process includes ammonia pressurization and CO2 compression, synthesis and stripping, medium-pressure decomposition and recovery; after the medium-pressure stage, it proceeds through two evaporation lines to the production of medium-grained and large-grained urea. CO2 capture employs the alcohol amine process, which uses an organic composite amine solution as an absorbent. The raw material, liquid ammonia, comes from the ammonia synthesis unit of the polypropylene upgrading project at Donghua Energy (Maoming) Alkane Resources Comprehensive Utilization Project, or is transported by sea to the port. The project name is Carbon Circular Economy and Green Chemicals Project. In January 2026, the Maoming Municipal Government website published a notice regarding the acceptance of Guangdong Jifeng Energy Co., Ltd.’s carbon circular economy and green chemical industry projects.
