Nutrien to sell nitrogen fertilizer facility in Trinidad and Tobago

　According to Sinochem News, recently the fertilizer giant Nutrien announced that it is planning to sell its nitrogen fertilizer facilities in Trinidad and Tobago, and has initiated a comprehensive strategic assessment of its closed Cape Liberty plant. 　　Internal company memos reveal that management is evaluating all strategic options for the local nitrogen fertilizer business, including potential asset sales, but no conclusions or decisions have been reached at this stage. 　　Currently, Nutrien is engaged in intensive negotiations with NGC, the natural gas company of Trinidad and Tobago. After signing a confidentiality agreement, the discussions have entered a critical phase. NGC’s senior officials stated that confidentiality clauses prevent them from disclosing more details, and as the negotiations are at a critical stage, it is inappropriate to provide any predictions about the future. 　　The Leith Cape nitrogen fertilizer plant was shut down in October 2025. Nutrien stated that it is progressing as planned with the review of strategic alternatives for its phosphate business, the nitrogen fertilizer plant in Trinidad, and its retail operations in Brazil, with a focus on improving profitability and free cash flow.
