Under strongly alkaline conditions, with a pH of around 11, what is the effect of chloride ions on the corrosion of stainless steel?
Consult the corrosion media manual or conduct intergranular corrosion tests! The metal ions are also unclear, as are the operating temperature and changes in medium concentration; only experiments can reveal everything!
For example, a sodium hydroxide solution with a pH of around 11 contains sodium chloride (chloride ions); stainless steel can be used in such environments, but the temperature must not be too high.
I would like to ask: for a sodium hydroxide solution with a pH of around 13 that contains sodium chloride (chloride ions), at a temperature of 110 degrees, what material would be suitable? Can titanium be used?
