The working principle of the three-phase horizontal spiral centrifuge is similar to that of the standard horizontal spiral centrifuge; it relies on the centrifugal force field, taking advantage of the differences in solid density, to achieve sedimentation and separation. The lighter liquid phase moves closer to the axis of rotation, while the heavier liquid phase moves closer to the inner wall of the drum. The heavier solids settle on the inner wall of the drum, and the lighter and heavier liquid phases are discharged through their respective channels provided in the drum, whereas the solids are removed by a spiral conveyor. Some three-phase separators can be equipped with a centrifugal pump; one of the two liquid phases can be discharged by the centrifugal pump, while the other liquid phase is discharged through the collection chamber in the housing. Using a centrifugal pump for liquid discharge can reduce liquid vaporization and prevent the separated liquid phases from leaking into each other within the housing and mixing again. The three-phase horizontal screw centrifuge exhibits great advantages in the treatment of sludge. It is able to separate not only the solids from the oily sludge but also the oil itself, a capability that no other separation method can match. At the same time, the moisture content and oil content of the dry sludge after treatment with a three-phase horizontal spiral centrifuge decreased to varying degrees. This reduces the amount of pulling required, thereby lowering the costs associated with pulling ; On the other hand, it reduces the amount of sludge entering the natural environment, thereby minimizing environmental pollution.
