May I ask what is the typical service life for chemical plant design? Is it determined based on the depreciation period? In which document is it specified?
The design service life of chemical plants is determined by market conditions. Some devices have been operating for over 80 years and are still running. However, for the purpose of defining design responsibilities, the typical service life for general equipment is 10–12 years, 20–25 years for high-voltage equipment, and 30 years for compressors. According to GB20801, pressure pipelines are required to have a service life of 15 years; when the pipelines of the equipment reach the end of this period, they can be replaced at any time to ensure the proper operation of the entire system. It is mentioned in Sinopec’s books “Petrochemical Pipeline Design” and “Pressure Pipeline Design and Engineering Applications”; it is also included in Sinopec Shanghai’s “Petrochemical Plant Design”
