Should the inlet water for the circulating water side filter be connected to the supply water or the return water of the circulating water system? Are there any differences and advantages/disadvantages? Thank you
It is usually connected to the pump outlet. But it also depends on the specific process requirements. It would be best to show a schematic diagram to see if there are any particular features, which will facilitate discussion. For reference.
What the design office suggested was to use the normal outlet of the circulation pump to feed the bypass filter, as indicated in red in the diagram. Now, we want to change this by using the return water to feed the bypass filter, as shown in blue in the diagram. The reason given is related to flow rates; if the water goes directly from the outlet to the bypass filter, less water will reach the heat exchanger in the unit. But personally, I don’t think there’s much difference
“Can a “side filter” be understood as a filter in a process? If it belongs to the water supply section, it should be installed at the pump outlet and then sent to the system users. Because in the cooling system, impurities such as those resulting from rust-induced leakage are not filtered out, and it seems to be a problem. It’s convenient to clean the filter, but cleaning the equipment isn’t so easy. It’s best to stick to the original design for reference.
