On page 104 of GB50160, the Fire Protection Standard for Petrochemical Enterprises, under section 3. When applying Table 4.2.12 of this standard, the following points should be noted: 1) The fire separation distances between process units and facilities within a plant shall be determined in accordance with this table; however, the fire separation distances within individual process units or facilities are not to be determined using this table. 2) The fire separation distance between process units and facilities, regardless of whether there are walls separating them, is determined using the nearest equipment or building to that unit or facility as the starting and ending points (for groups of storage tanks, the center line of the fire dike serves as the starting and ending point). The regulations regarding the starting and ending points of fire separation distances are provided in Appendix A of this code. 3) Fire separation distances for process units: ① The fire separation distances from adjacent units or facilities for each process unit are determined based on the fire hazard level of that unit or the production units within it. ② The fire protection distance between a refinery unit and adjacent units or facilities is determined based on the fire hazard of that unit ; However, for integrated complexes, the fire protection distance from adjacent installations or facilities should be determined based on the fire hazard levels of each installation within the complex. For important facilities within such complexes (e.g., control rooms, substations, office buildings, etc.), the fire protection distance from adjacent installations or facilities shall be determined in accordance with the requirements applicable to installations classified as Class A in terms of fire hazard ; When the control rooms, power distribution stations, and offices of the two sets of installations are arranged adjacent to each other, their fire separation distances can comply with the Code for Fire Protection Design of Buildings. The coke pool of the coking unit and the sulfur warehouse of the sulfur recovery unit can have their fire separation distances from adjacent units or facilities determined as per Class C units. ③ For petrochemical plants, the fire protection distance from adjacent plants or facilities is determined based on the fire hazard of the production units within the plant ; Important facilities within the facility (such as control rooms, power transformation and distribution stations, office buildings, etc.) have their fire separation distances from adjacent facilities or units determined in accordance with the requirements for Class A fire hazard units ; When the control rooms, power transformation and distribution stations, and offices of the two sets of installations are arranged adjacent to each other, their fire separation distances can comply with the Code for Fire Protection Design of Buildings (GB50016). Important facilities within the facility (such as control rooms, power transformation and distribution stations, office buildings, etc.) have their fire separation distances from adjacent facilities or units determined in accordance with the requirements for Class A fire hazard units ; I would like to ask here, for example, about the control room inside the facility. Is the fire separation distance from this control room to the office buildings throughout the plant set at 40 meters? Use other fire separation distances instead. A 40-meter requirement seems too strict and wastes too much space.
