The design specifications for instrument air supply require that the capacity of the instrument air buffer tank be sufficient to provide a continuous supply of air for 15–20 minutes. However, in cases where a facility is of smaller scale and contains only a few pneumatic valves, in the event of a power or air supply failure, it is sufficient to simply close those pneumatic valves without any further actions being required. In such situations, is it still necessary for the instrument air buffer tank to meet the requirement of providing a continuous air supply for 15–20 minutes?
