The first condensation acts as a liquid seal, creating a slight pressure difference between the gas phases of the two condensers, thereby preventing mixing of the gas phases.
A liquid seal is formed to prevent the uncondensed gas phase from coming into direct contact with the rear end; however, in the lower-stage condenser, it is discharged directly.
There is gas inside the PG pipeline; this might be for liquid sealing purposes. Normally, a reverse U-shaped pipeline is used, and a ball valve is employed when draining it
Similar structures have been used in flash tanks before to maintain a certain liquid level; under normal operation the valve remains closed, and the liquid level inside the equipment must reach the top of the marked mark before it can overflow. For drainage and maintenance, open the valve below to drain the equipment completely.
