However, Section 6 of SH3136 specifies that the material used for the valves in liquefied petroleum gas systems should preferably be carbon steel, and that such valves should possess the same low-temperature resistance and H2S corrosion resistance as the material used for the tanks. Globe valves are preferred for cut-off valves; when gate valves and ball valves are used, they should be equipped with a pressure relief mechanism in their valve chambers. The design pressure of the valve should not be less than 2.5 MPa. Based on the above requirements, my understanding is that for liquefied petroleum gas valves, the European standard requires at least PN40, while the American standard requires at least CL300.
