Jiangsu Hongjing New Materials Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Hongjing New Materials”) has published a notice regarding the acceptance of the environmental impact assessment for the “High-End Copolymer New Materials Project (Phase II)”. Hongjing New Materials is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sierbang Petrochemical, which is part of the Shenghong Group. The project plans to build a set of high-end copolymerization new material production facilities with an annual capacity of 50,000 tons. Once completed, these facilities will be able to produce 30,000 tons of EVA per year, 10,000 tons of EnBA per year, and 10,000 tons of EMAA per year ; Meanwhile, 2,000 tons per year of crude ethylene, 400 tons per year of reaction oligomers, 80 tons per year of SC material, and 40 tons per year of polymeric derivatives (waxes) are produced as by-products. Construction location: West of National Highway 228 and north of Suhai Road, in the East-West-Center Cooperation Demonstration Zone, Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province ; Investment amount: The total investment amount is 1,606.99 million yuan ; The environmental protection investment for this project amounts to 171.06 million yuan, accounting for 10.6% of the total project investment; number of employees: the total planned workforce is 51 people ; Project area: 49,950 m2 ; Process selection and characteristics: The autoclave process patented by ECI in the United States is employed. Cold ethylene is directly injected into the reaction stream for cooling via the outlet cooler of the compressor; using cold ethylene for heat exchange ensures uniform cooling of the product, reducing the formation of crystal particles or fish-eye defects. The comonomer is fed into the outlet of the secondary machine using a high-pressure pump, which reduces the amount of acidic substances in the compressor and facilitates long-term operation of the compressor system. The operating pressure of the reactor is up to 280 MPaG, offering a wide operating range and low polymerization temperatures; compared to other autoclave-based processes, it enables the production of products with a narrower molecular weight distribution. There are many units operating using the ECI process, most of them being batch-type plants with a capacity of 50,000 tons per year; some of these units have been in safe operation for over 50 years. This process features a low frequency of ethylene decomposition, resulting in high operational safety. Process units: pre-compression unit, ultra-high pressure compression unit, initiation unit, polymerization unit, separation unit, high and low pressure gas circulation unit, extrusion granulation unit, mixing, storage, and packaging unit, etc.
