On July 5, the Quanzhou Ecology and Environment Bureau issued a notice to make public its approval opinions regarding the 100,000-ton/year EVA project proposed by Sinochem Quanzhou Petrochemical Co., Ltd., which is subject to approval. Project Name: Sinochem Quanzhou Petrochemical Co., Ltd. 100,000 tons/year EVA ProjectLocation: Reserved land within the Quanzhou-Huizhou Petrochemical Industrial Park, belonging to Sinochem Quanzhou Petrochemical Co., Ltd.
Developer: Sinochem Quanzhou Petrochemical Co., Ltd.
Nature of the project: Expansion (the existing EVA plant has an approved capacity of 140,000 tons/year; this project adds another 100,000 tons/year, bringing the total capacity of the EVA plant to 240,000 tons/year)
Scale of construction: A new EVA plant with a capacity of 100,000 tons/year will be built, operating as an independent system from the existing 140,000 tons/year EVA plant.
Land area required: The reserved land within the company will be utilized, covering a total area of 59,200 m2, of which 43,200 m2 is allocated for the plant area and 16,000 m2 for packaging and warehouse facilities.
Total investment for the project: 2,772.3 million yuan. According to previous environmental impact assessments, the project plans to use Mobil’s batch process; the EVA products to be produced will have a VA content of 33 wt%, and these products can be widely used in high-end applications such as solar encapsulation films and hot melt adhesives. They possess high added value and are in line with the development direction of China’s chemical industry as well as relevant industrial policies. By reducing production costs while maintaining high product quality, it lays the foundation for minimizing the energy consumption associated with device production, giving it a significant advantage over similar devices in China.
