On October 15, the environmental impact assessment report for Guizhou Phosphorus Chemical Kairui Technology Co., Ltd.’s 100,000-ton/year lithium iron phosphate production project (with an initial capacity of 50,000 tons) was made public prior to submission for approval. Project Name: Guizhou Phosphating Kairui Technology Co., Ltd. 100,000 tons/year Lithium Iron Phosphate Project (Phase 1: 50,000 tons)Location of Construction: Xifeng Chemical Industry Park, Guiyang City
Construction Content and Scale: Total investment of 960 million yuan; upon completion, the project will have an annual production capacity of 50,000 tons of lithium iron phosphate. Guizhou Phosphorus Chemical Kairui Technology Co., Ltd. is a subsidiary of Guizhou Phosphorus Chemical Group, and is directly invested by Guizhou Phosphorus Chemical New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. Guizhou Phosphating (Group) Co., Ltd. was established in June 2019 through the integration and restructuring of Wengfu (Group) Co., Ltd. and the former Guizhou Kailin Holding (Group) Co., Ltd., with a registered capital of 6 billion yuan. The group produces 72 different series of products, including phosphate fertilizers, phosphate chemicals, coal chemicals, fluorine-iodine chemicals, and new types of green building materials made from phosphogypsum. It holds reserves of phosphate ore amounting to 1.45 billion tons, and at the current rate of extraction, these reserves will last for nearly a hundred years. Production capacities have been established for 17 million tons of phosphate rock mining, 8 million tons of high-concentration phosphate fertilizers, 4 million tons of phosphoric acid, 1 million ton of wet-process purified phosphoric acid, 1.4 million tons of synthetic ammonia, 120,000 tons of anhydrous hydrogen fluoride, and 5 million tons of phosphogypsum as a new type of green building material. In 2023, Guizhou Phosphorus Group’s industrial output value exceeded 50 billion yuan for the first time, with a year-on-year increase of 15.89%. The group achieved revenue of 51.938 billion yuan and profits of 3.004 billion yuan, and it was included in the list of China’s Top 500 Enterprises for three consecutive years. In 2021, Guizhou Phosphorus Group (with a 45% stake) and CATL (with a 35% stake) jointly invested to establish Guizhou Phosphorus New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. At present, Guizhou Phosphination New Energy Company has built production facilities for phosphorus-based new energy material precursors (battery-grade purified phosphoric acid, battery-grade ammonium monophosphate, iron phosphate), as well as lithium hexafluorophosphate. Among them, the lithium hexafluorophosphate production facility marked a breakthrough in the province, from nothing to something existing. This lithium iron phosphate cathode material project will further extend the company’s product supply chain and enhance the overall competitiveness of its products. At present, the production capacity of lithium iron phosphate in Guizhou Province is around 450,000 tons per year, accounting for about 10% of the country’s total capacity. Guizhou ranks third in the country in terms of phosphate ore reserves, and thanks to these resources, it is set to become one of the key production bases for lithium iron phosphate cathode materials in the future.
