Recently, China National Chemical Engineering Corporation’s Hualu Company signed a framework agreement for cooperation on a high-end polyoxymethylene (POM) project with China Coal Ordos Energy Chemical Co., Ltd. This marks the first time that the advanced POM production technology developed independently by China National Chemical Engineering Corporation will be put into practical use on an industrial scale; it also signifies that the strategic partnership between the two parties in the field of advanced new materials has entered a new phase. Polyoxymethylene (POM) is an engineering plastic with excellent overall properties. It boasts a high elastic modulus, high hardness, high stiffness, and outstanding mechanical strength over a wide temperature range, and its density is much lower than that of metals, which is why it is referred to as the \"metal among plastics\". Thanks to its excellent self-lubricating properties, fatigue resistance, and dimensional stability, polyoxymethylene (POM) is widely used in automotive components, precision electronic devices, industrial machinery, and other fields. It is one of the key polymer materials that can replace traditional metal materials such as steel, copper, and aluminum. For a long time, the production technology for polyoxymethylene (POM) has been monopolized by foreign companies, resulting in a severe reliance on imports for high-grade grades in China. The project under this cooperation utilizes the advanced POM production technology independently developed by China National Chemical Engineering Corporation. It aims to build the first domestic POM production facility based primarily on home-grown technology. The products produced will be high-value-added copolymerized POMs, thereby filling the gap in domestic autonomous production in this field and contributing to the security and controllability of the industrial chain. Following the signing of the agreement, Hualu Company will promptly assemble a professional and high-caliber project team to make every effort to accelerate the completion of the first industrial-scale installation, aiming to create a benchmark project in the industry that is safe, stable, capable of long-term operation at full capacity, of high quality, and environmentally friendly (resembling the principles of \"safety, stability, longevity, excellence, and environmental friendliness\”). Next, Hualu Company will leverage its advanced polyoxymethylene technology to promote the integrated application of principles related to intrinsic safety and green, low-carbon practices throughout the entire life cycle of projects. This will ensure that projects are constructed to high standards and delivered with high quality. The company is also committed to advancing the self-sufficiency and sophistication of China’s engineering plastics industry, serving as a model for the localization of key core technologies in the field of new materials.
