It was recently announced that the winner of the bidding for the services related to the preparation and evaluation of the feasibility study report for Huaneng Xinjiang Zhundong Company’s 4 billion Nm³/a coal-to-natural gas project (with an initial capacity of 2 billion Nm³/a) has been determined: the winning company is Saiding Engineering Co., Ltd., with a bid amount of 1,385,000 yuan. Another announcement relates to the services needed for preparing and evaluating the feasibility study report for the same project; again, the winning company is Saiding Engineering Co., Ltd., with a bid amount of 1,160,000 yuan. The 4 billion Nm³/a coal-to-natural gas project carried out by Huaneng Xinjiang Zhundong Energy Development Co., Ltd. is part of the infrastructure development for Well No. 6 in the Zhundong Dajing mining area, with an annual production capacity of 10 million tons. The “14th Five-Year Plan” and the development guidelines up to 2035 designate Zhundong as a strategic reserve base for coal-based oil and gas production. In 2023, the autonomous region officially launched the coal-to-natural gas project in Zhundong. As part of its mission to promote the development of emerging industries, China Huaneng Group continues to work on advancing this project, with construction taking place in phases according to the “20+20” model. The initial phase, with a capacity of 2 billion Nm³/a, will be implemented first, with the second phase following at an appropriate time. The 4 billion Nm³/year coal-to-natural gas project of Huaneng Xinjiang Zhundong Company (with an initial capacity of 2 billion Nm³/year) was originally planned to require an investment of 26 billion yuan. It is located in the Zhundong Economic and Technological Development Zone in Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and the project owner is Huaneng Xinjiang Zhundong Energy Development Co., Ltd.
