Sinopec Ningbo Engineering Co., Ltd. won the bid for the foundation design of the 300,000 tons per year vinyl acetate plant as part of Shanghai Petrochemical’s comprehensive technical renovation and upgrading project

Recently, the comprehensive technical renovation and upgrading project at Shanghai Petrochemical has been advanced, with the tender documents for the basic design aspects such as vinyl acetate production, C5 separation processes, process and thermal piping networks and tank areas, as well as the plant’s telecommunications and power supply systems, being made public. The details are as follows: For the 300,000 tons per year vinyl acetate production facility, the 200,000 tons per year C5 separation facility (excluding isoprene), and the facilities for high-end new materials, the first-ranked bidder for the basic design work is Sinopec Shanghai Engineering Co., Ltd. For the basic design of processes, thermal pipelines, tank areas, as well as telecommunications and power supply systems across the entire plant, the first-ranked bidder for Phase 1 is Sinopec Ningbo Engineering Co., Ltd. In order to meet the requirements related to energy conservation, carbon reduction, safety, and environmental protection, and in line with the economic development and market demands in Shanghai and its surrounding areas, while building on the existing corporate infrastructure and making full use of the advantages of integrated refining and chemical production, Shanghai Petrochemical plans to invest approximately 21.307 billion yuan. This investment will be used to carry out comprehensive technical upgrades and improvements to the company’s operations, to restructure its refining facilities, to shut down 18 existing facilities with a total capacity of 700,000 tons per year of ethylene, and to build new facilities capable of producing 1.2 million tons per year of ethylene and other high-end new materials.
