CNPC Engineering Construction Company’s Southwest Branch won the bid for the hydrogen-infused pipeline transportation project

It was learned on December 5 that the Southwest Branch of China Power Engineering Corporation (CPECC) has recently won the contract for the design work related to the \"Science and Technology Testing Platform for the Application of Hydrogen-Enhanced Pipeline Transportation\" project undertaken by China Power Investment Group Science and Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd., marking another breakthrough in the field of high-pressure, long-distance, large-diameter pipelines for transporting hydrogen or pure hydrogen. This test platform is part of the **key research and development project “Key Technologies for the Transportation and Application of Pure Hydrogen and Natural Gas Blended Hydrogen in Long-Distance Pipelines”**. Upon completion, the project will be of great significance in overcoming the key technical challenges associated with the large-scale transportation and utilization of hydrogen, as well as in exploring commercial operation schemes for hydrogen blending in natural gas; in particular, it is important for high-pressure, long-distance, large-diameter pipelines for transporting hydrogen-blended or pure hydrogen. In recent years, the Southwest Branch has made continuous efforts in areas such as hydrogen production, hydrogen blending, and hydrogen liquefaction. It has undertaken more than 10 hydrogen-related research projects at various levels, including **key R&D program projects and key initiatives under China National Petroleum Corporation’s 14th Five-Year Plan**, as well as projects at the provincial and ministerial levels and those managed by the company’s own departments. As a result, it has developed a series of patents, proprietary technologies, and innovative solutions related to the pipeline transportation of hydrogen-blended natural gas/pure hydrogen, as well as the blending of hydrogen into natural gas networks and its subsequent separation. More than 10 hydrogen energy projects have been undertaken in Beijing, Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Xinjiang, Sichuan, Zhejiang, Shaanxi and other regions. The country’s first integrated demonstration project for the \"production, storage, blending, transmission, distribution, and utilization\" of city gas and hydrogen energy was established, as well as China National Petroleum Corporation’s first industrial hydrogen blending demonstration project in the field of city gas.
