Dear forum members, in the process of chemical engineering design, there is a scenario in which the vapor outlet at the top of a distillation tower is equipped with two condensers: a primary condenser and a secondary condenser. The liquid outlet pipelines from these two condensers merge together after passing through U-shaped bends. A U-shaped bend is generally installed on the liquid outlet pipeline of the primary condenser, but for the liquid outlet pipeline of the secondary condenser, some designs include such a bend while others do not. In this scenario, regarding the liquid-phase outlet pipeline of the secondary condenser, is it necessary to install a U-turn? I would appreciate it if experts could discuss this and provide guidance.
