Tender for the design of UPE equipment for high-end functional materials projects 2026-03-18 13:26:21 On March 16, a tender was issued for basic design services related to the ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene project at Daxie Petrochemical. The Phase 6 Distillate Project of CNOOC Ningbo Daxie Petrochemical Co., Ltd. (a project focused on high-end functional materials, hereinafter referred to as the Daxie Phase 6 Project) is an initiative by Daxie Petrochemical to build, based on its existing industrial foundation, a integrated refining and chemical processing facility that boasts large scale and advanced technology, as well as strong competitiveness. High-performance materials projects developed by leveraging internally produced resources such as ethylene, liquefied gas, catalytic slurry, and vacuum residue. The main unit of the proposed project is located on the south side of the Taiping Petrochemical complex site in Beilun District, Ningbo. Among them, a new ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene plant with an annual production capacity of 40,000 tons is planned to be built, producing 40,000 tons of powder per year. The plant is expected to operate for 8,000 hours per year, with a design flexibility range of 60% to 110%. The raw materials for the plant are ethylene and hydrogen produced by upstream plants, as well as purchased hexane, etc. According to public information, the total investment in this project amounts to 1,018,418 million yuan. The sixth phase of the Daxie Petrochemical project includes facilities for producing 100,000 tons per year of polyolefin elastomers (HPOE), 40,000 tons per year of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE), 150,000 tons per year of products derived from butane derivatives (including MTBE/1-butene), and 300,000 tons per year of high-end carbon materials (such as acicular coke). Project timeline: On March 26, 2025, Daxie Petrochemical and the Beilun District Government officially signed the investment agreement for Phase 6 of the project. On August 11, 2025, an announcement was issued regarding the procurement plan for energy efficiency assessment and acceptance services for the Phase 6 project of Daxie Petrochemical. Scope of procurement and key technical specifications: Assist the owner in completing the registration review at CNOOC’s headquarters, prepare energy-saving reports for the C4 comprehensive utilization project and the ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene project, and arrange for internal expert review meetings at CNOOC as well as related conference expenses. On October 17, 2025, the 100,000-ton/year HPOE project at Daxie Petrochemical was approved for registration. In January 2026, the list of candidates shortlisted for the general contract award for the process technology, engineering design, procurement, and construction (TBEPC) of the C4 comprehensive utilization project at Zhonghai Refining & Chemical Daxie Petrochemical was made public.
