Is the fire hazard of printing factories classified as Class A or Class C? The explanatory notes for the building codes give the example of a printing factory as Category C. However, the ink used for printing belongs to categories A and B. How should it be divided? I would appreciate advice from experienced friends.
Since the provisions of the building codes give printing factories as an example of Class C facilities, it is sufficient to follow those regulations. If printing does not use ink, it cannot even be classified as Category C.
It’s clearly Category C; ink factories all fall under Category C.

Class C is generally considered; if there is a designated area for ink storage, isolation can be considered, as long as the total area does not exceed 5%, in which case the facility is still classified as Class C
As far as I know, the main combustible component of ink is natural oils or mineral oils
It’s not easy to handle, especially in the four-color printing machine workshop and the oil mixing room, where the volumes are very large
The ink is created by physically mixing powder pigments with binders such as mineral oil or vegetable oils like tung oil, and then it’s ground using a three-roller mill – that’s all. The oils used are of the propylene type, not gasoline. I have designed ink factories on the scale of those in Nanbo Bay, China; TRUST ME!:lol
A printing factory is definitely classified as Category C, mainly due to combustible materials such as paper, and the amount of ink used is small; it’s not the case that just having one bottle of gasoline in a factory makes it classified as Category A.
