I have been reviewing a lot of information on isomerization recently, and I found that most projects in China are medium-temperature isomerization projects. Are there any low-temperature isomerization projects that are under construction or planned? The projects currently in operation are all at medium temperatures; from a technical perspective, low-temperature processes are more cost-effective in the long run. What is preventing the development of low-temperature heterogenization processes? There is very little information available online on this topic; I welcome experts to offer their guidance!
Please don’t let my posts get buried; I’m begging all the experts here
Is the recovery rate higher at lower temperatures?
From the data I see, the low temperature is 2-3 units higher than the medium temperature
Low-temperature isomerization catalysts are particularly sensitive to impurities; levels of water, sulfur, oxygen, and nitrogen must all be kept below 1 pm. Additionally, the catalyst has the problem of chlorine loss, which can corrode downstream equipment.
The GCS-1 low-temperature isomerization catalyst from the Institute of Petrochemistry, which is based on SO42-/ZrO2, has been reported to have been in operation in Dongxing, Zhanjiang for one year. Why is there no description of the reaction conditions, such as by how many degrees the reaction temperature was reduced, etc.? ; It is guessed that its reaction temperature is still considerably higher than that of similar SO42-/ZrO2-based catalysts from GTC and UOP, perhaps around 160-200?
There are low-temperature projects in China; both UOP’s Parm-Isom and GTC’s ISOM-2 are low-temperature catalysts that do not require chlorine addition
In my opinion, molecular sieve agents, aluminum chloride oxide agents, and zirconium sulfate agents all have their own advantages; the choice depends on the needs of the operator. Medium-temperature molecular sieves are inexpensive and easy to use, while the other two types should be selected based on the requirements of the raw materials and the gasoline storage tank.
