(Introduction) Cao Yu (1910–1996) was an outstanding modern Chinese playwright, known for famous works such as \"Thunderstorm,\" \"Sunrise,\" \"The Wild Field,\" and \"Beijing People.\" Cao Yu’s ancestral home is Qianjiang, Hubei. Born in Tianjin on August 21, the second year of the Xuantong era (September 24, 1910), his original name was Wan Jiabao, and his courtesy name was Xiaoshi. During my time at Tsinghua University, I had the nickname “little baby”. “\"Cao Yu\" was the pen name he used for the first time when he published a novel in 1926 (the radical for \"grass\" in the traditional character for his surname \"Wan\" sounds similar to \"Cao\"). Cao Yu was \"an audience member of civilized dramas, an amateur actor who loved aesthetic plays, and a playwright influenced by left-wing drama movements\" (Sun Qingsheng: On Cao Yu, Peking University Press, 1986). This sentence roughly summarizes Cao Yu’s theatrical career. Cao Yu’s wife, Li Yuru, was a famous Peking opera actress. As a landmark park in our city, Cao Yu Park is divided into an eastern and a western area. In 2004, the construction of the East Area was mainly completed. The construction area in the East District is 440,000 m2, involving over 40 construction projects. To date, more than 20 attractions in the park have been built, including the Cao Yu Park entrance, memorial hall, Thunderstorm Square, Sunrise Pavilion, Prairie Corridor, and various bridges within the park. The main building is the Cao Yu Memorial Hall. Since the East District is where I often run, I’ll share some of the views there with you first; later on, I’ll show you the views of the West District as well.
I have never been inside the Cao Yu Memorial Hall; I also don’t know if an entrance fee is required.

The name of Beidou Mountain sounds very imposing, but once you see it in person, you won’t think so!

Cao Yu Park is located by Machang Lake in the northern part of Qianjiang City. Its development makes use of the water and forest resources of Machang Lake, integrating urban construction with flood control measures. It is an open-water park designed primarily as a memorial to Cao Yu, offering functions such as leisure, tourism, entertainment, and science education. The planned land area is 1.6 square kilometers; with Zhanghuan South Road as the axis, the park is divided into an eastern and a western section.
