Can a Y-type filter and a pressure reducing valve be installed on low-pressure steam pipes? ?
Sure. If the steam pressure required by the system is very low, a pressure regulator is needed, but I don’t think a filter is necessary – steam is already quite clean; a drain valve assembly can be installed at a lower point
A Y-type filter is used to remove larger particles of debris from water, usually placed before the water pump or at the outlet of the water tank, in order to prevent damage to the pump. Steam pipes that have been in use for a long time are generally clean and do not require a Y-type filter; moreover, such filters would not provide any filtering effect in those cases. A steam trap can be installed instead. If new pipes are being installed, it is recommended to purge them. Make a bypass pipe, install a silencer; after purging, seal it off with a blind flange, or simply unscrew the valve’s flanges for purging – though that will generate a lot of noise.

Why? ? Aren’t control valves expensive? Which regulator has a better pressure reduction effect? Or does the regulator have a better pressure reduction effect? ?
This post was last edited by goldliyang on 2017-4-14 at 11:48. A pressure regulating valve should be installed when a lower pressure is required, and a filter (100-mesh screen) must also be used. Dirt may originate from boiler water (especially when load fluctuations are large, this can lead to foaming, with steam carrying boiler water along); there may also be rust and other impurities (condensation water is inevitable in steam pipes, and this condensation water is corrosive; its corrosiveness increases when it contains air, and rust forms as a result of corrosion in valves and pipes). Sometimes there are also fragments from seals and other types of impurities. Therefore, filters must be installed before control valves (including pressure reducers) and steam-using equipment, otherwise the valves and equipment will be damaged.
