I’m not a professional in pipeline work. I would like to ask whether a support is needed for the 6-inch pipe shown in the diagram, given that the distance between the two pipe ends is less than 5.2 meters. Additionally, I’d like to understand the exact meaning of Note 2 in Table 3 of the standard mentioned below. If you know how, please translate it: MSS SP-69-2003 – Pipe Hangers and Supports: Selection and Application, Table 3, Note 2: This does not apply where span calculations are performed, or where there are concentrated loads between the supports such as flanges, valves, special fittings, or changes in direction that require additional supports.
I just have one question: without any support, what do you do when replacing the valve?

It is not suitable for pipelines for which span calculations have been done, nor for areas where loads are concentrated between supports, such as flanges, valves, special components (flanges, expansion joints, rupture disks, flow meters, etc.), or locations where a change in flow direction necessitates the addition of extra supports.

Pipe-Hangers-and-Supports---Selection-and-Application: The selection of pipe supports and hangers is not applicable in cases where span calculations are required, or where there are concentrated loads between the supports, such as those caused by flanges, valves, other components, or direction changes that necessitate additional supports. It is not suitable for use in situations involving span calculations, or in cases of concentrated loads between supports due to elements like flanges, valves, etc., or direction changes that require extra support.
This is something that requires engineers to rely on their experience based on the actual situation
Why temporary? The cost of temporary setup might be even higher
