Dear experts: Our 30% acid waste contains 1% bromide ions and 1% hydrogen peroxide. At temperatures below 50 degrees, what materials can be used for long-term storage?
Use a bucket made of fluoroplastic material, PVDF
It’s made of metal; can stainless steel be used?
Our pipes are lined with PTFE or PVDF
With fluoride, chloride, bromide, and iodide ions, there should be a reaction, right?
Can stainless steels such as duplex stainless steel or Hastelloy be used?
If you want to use a metal material, the best approach is to conduct material testing.
A steel lining with PTFE or PVDF is better.
Since the material selection for the heat exchange equipment is also a consideration, I would prefer to use metal materials. As you said, the safest approach is to conduct material tests. If that doesn’t work, the storage tank can be made of a non-metallic material, and the heat exchanger can be made of graphite; this should work.
Graphite materials also require material testing, with different impregnations.
