It’s not necessary. The main purpose of backwashing is to drain liquid, and there is already a backwashing system after the steam trap, so one isn’t needed ahead of it

If what’s in the lower left corner isn’t a drain, then it’s necessary to have one; if it is already a drain, then there’s already one in place. 1. The pipelines must be flushed when put into use, otherwise the steam traps are prone to getting clogged – therefore, a drain or bypass should be installed. 2. During inspections, if it is found that the steam trap has cooled down, opening the drain temporarily can help prevent freezing while the steam trap is replaced.
There is already a drain valve for guiding the flow, so adding another one would be redundant.
Add them – China’s check valves; anything can happen, so it’s better to leave yourself a backup option.
In actual production, especially in newly commissioned plants, there are still some particles and other substances inside the pipes. Additionally, due to manufacturing defects, the traps often stop functioning properly; therefore, in our designs we usually add a drain line in front of the traps.
