The carbon monoxide content in nitrogen produced by cryogenic nitrogen production is as high as 1.5% – how to solve this? ! This process utilizes cryogenic nitrogen production; the nitrogen system is connected to the gas system, but the possibility of gas mixing with nitrogen is largely ruled out. The reason is as follows: the gas system uses coke oven gas, which does not contain separate CO; however, the nitrogen detection results show only CO, with no CH4, H2, etc. So it should be a problem with the cryogenic nitrogen production process itself. However, the CO content in the air is extremely low, so it cannot be a problem with the feed air. Solve! ! !
Check if there is a possibility of coke oven gas flowing back.
But the components of coke oven gas are very diverse – CH4, H2, CO, and so on. In nitrogen, only CO is present; there is no CH4 or H2, so it’s impossible for coke oven gas to be leaking back. I really don’t understand this!
I have encountered similar situations as well. Our operating conditions do not involve exposure to carbon monoxide, but during sampling, a significant peak appeared at the carbon monoxide level. None of us can explain it.
It’s still necessary to carefully check the connection points between the nitrogen system and the gas system; don’t assume that just having a check valve will prevent cross-contamination of gases 100%.
