May I ask if a manual valve can be installed on the atmospheric pressure tank and the overflow pipeline (16 inches)? Are there any design specifications that impose specific requirements regarding the installation of manual valves on overflow pipelines? Should the hand valve still be prohibited?
Valves cannot be installed on the overflow and safety valve pipelines; if installation is necessary, it must be approved by the responsible safety officer.
I just consulted a colleague from a design firm, and in principle, valves cannot be installed on the overflow pipelines of atmospheric pressure tanks, as there is a risk of overflow or overpressure. However, there are no specific regulations prohibiting the use of manual valves on overflow pipelines, just as in principle, no valves should be installed upstream of safety valves/blast discs. Unless it is absolutely necessary to add it, a lock must be used to open it. Moreover, adding a valve to the overflow pipe may reduce the flow area and affect the overflow volume, so it is best not to add one. . .
